SMYRNA, GA. (March 2009) – The 6th Annual Smyrna Market Village St. Patrick’s Day Festival will take place on Tuesday, March 17 from 2:00 to 11:00 pm. The event’s annual “dyeing of the fountain”, which turns Smyrna’s Market Village fountain waters green, was almost canceled due to Georgia’s drought, but thanks to a generous donation from Lipsey Mountain Spring Water attendees will still get to enjoy the green fountain tradition.
The fountain in Smyrna Market Village has been dry due to the water bans the state enacted to help alleviate the drought. City of Smyrna Mayor Max Bacon, who will be dyeing the fountain green, contacted Lipsey Spring Mountain Water, the glass bottled premium mountain spring water company in the Atlanta Metropolitan area, to ask if they would donate 6,000 gallons, to get the fountain flowing for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities.
